Division of Neurosciences and Clinical Translation
The Division of Neurosciences and Clinical Translation is directed by Dr. Fang Liu based at CAMH. It includes:
- Over 250 faculty members: full-time basic and clinical researchers as well as clinical and teaching faculty
- A Division Executive Committee made up of Division faculty
- Neuroscientists and clinicians from other Department Divisions
Neurosciences and Clinical Translation focuses on addictions, mood and anxiety, neurosciences and schizophrenia. It is working to build a large program of basic and translational research that is integrated with clinical studies directed at therapeutics development.
Since its formation in 2012, there has been substantial growth in the Division, and a large increase in funding from CIHR, NIH, OMHF and the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). The faculty has collectively published over 350 peer-reviewed papers yearly, and serve in leadership roles within UofT, the hospitals and nationally and internationally.
Some of the top psychiatric neuroscientists in the world work within the Division, with particular strengths in the areas of:
- Neuroimaging
- Brain stimulation
- Pharmacogenetics and epigenetics
- Proteomics
- Psychopharmacology
- Neurocognition (Neuropsychology and Neurophysiology)
- Clinical interventions research
Neurosciences and Clinical Translation is the highest funded Division within the Department of Psychiatry, with over $40 million in external funding, across nine hospital sites.
