Humber River Health
The mission for Humber River Health is to work together with our community to deliver innovative, safe and equitable healthcare. Our health network values and models compassion, professionalism and respect, prioritizing high quality patient care, access to care, and innovation. Our strategic goals reflect this, emphasizing empowering our people and patients, and embracing diversity, equity and inclusion. Humber River is proud to have high patient satisfaction ratings.
The Department of Psychiatry and the Mental Health & Addictions Program are uniquely placed to support these goals. Of note, we are located within one of Toronto’s most diverse regions with hundreds of different languages spoken in our GTA community. We have a large inpatient unit (58 adult beds) and service a high volume of diverse outpatient referrals, ranging across ages, and a variety of diagnoses including mood and anxiety disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, addictions, and others. Within the outpatient program, patients are provided with consultations or episodes of care, depending on need and diagnosis. Patients with mood and anxiety disorders our seen through our Stepped Care program. We are very fortunate to have a large and highly skilled allied health team. As such, outpatients can access a variety of programming and allied health supports, including psychoeducation, CBT groups, day programs, addictions supports, and more. Our department currently includes a collegial group of about 30 psychiatrists.
