Appointed as a Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice in 2003, currently presiding at Old City Hall in Toronto. Previously Judicial Coordinator of Mental Health Court (102 court) at Old City Hall, and Chair of Mental Health Court Consortium. In addition to presiding over all types of criminal, and federal (including drug) cases, was a special focus on dealing with mentally disordered defendants who came before the court. Have regularly been a panelist for legal education programs (Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association-Ontario, Criminal Lawyers Association, Crown Attorneys' Association) for lawyers, on many diverse criminal law, evidentiary, procedural and Charter of Rights topics. This has included issues related to those specific to mentally disordered people before the court, and in communicating with people in plain language. Also regularly a panelist and presenter of education programs for judges. Previously have also done instruction for lawyers related to advocacy, and for expert witnesses. Instructor for mock hearing for students in the PGY-6 program, University of Toronto and CAMH held annually.
