Paul Casola

Dr Casola ( MD FRCPC PhD FASAM, ABAM) is a Psychiatrist practicing General Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in the GTA. After completing his Residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto in 1989, he trained in a 1 year fellowship in Addiction Medicine through the Addiction Research Foundation (now CAMH-ARF division), Toronto. He was a Medical and Psychiatric Consultant to the Salvation Army Harbour Light Addictions Program in Toronto from 1990-2012. He was certified in 1990 by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and recertified in 2002. He was made a Fellow of ASAM in 2003 (FASAM). In 2009 he was certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).

He sat on the Board of Enquiry, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) for approximately 10 years and the CPSO Fitness to Practice Committee for 4 years, chairing this committee for 2 of those years. He currently holds appointments at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, ARF Division (Concurrent Disorders Service) and the Dept of Psychiatry St Michael’s Hospital. He has been active in shaping and training the addiction treatment programs at St Michael’s Hospital and CAMH. His patient practice consists of individuals with Addictive Illness and Mental Health issues. He has served as an independent/expert Medical examiner for the College of Physicians, Pharmacists, Veterinarians of Ontario to the present day.
