Sheri Turrell
Dr. Sheri Turrell is a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in mental health. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families at the Hospital for Sick Children, North York General Hospital, and Trillium Health Partners. Dr. Turrell is most passionate about her work with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, pronounced as a single word) with patients of all ages, and psychodynamic psychotherapy with adults. She has conducted research studies to examine the effectiveness of ACT as a group-based therapy. Dr. Turrell is coauthor of “ACT for Adolescents: A Transdiagnostic Guide for Clinicians,” and "The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Teen Anxiety.” Now in full-time private practice, Dr. Turrell conducts group trainings locally and internationally and offers supervision / consultation to graduate students and mental health professionals. She is a faculty member of the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis, of which she is also a graduate.
Research Synopsis
Research interests include the efficacy of group based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for adolescents and adults. Most recently, Dr. Turrell is collaborating with Sick Kids to examine the efficacy of an ACT based parenting group in Adolescent Medicine / Substance Abuse.
