A Macedonian-Canadian, I was raised in the greater Toronto area. Following completion of local undergraduate studies I attended medical school in Grenada, West Indies. Clinical years were spent in the United States primarily in the inner cities of New Jersey and New York. I completed an internship in internal medicine, followed by psychiatry residency in East Harlem, New York City. In serving populations of diverse clinical and socio-economic needs, I have gained an intimate understanding of the challenges of health care system delivery and the importance of community and mentorship in this model. I am fascinated by the interface of medical and psychiatric disease processes, and seek to explore this connection through skilled assessment, collaboration, teaching and research. Sub-specialty areas of interest include psycho-oncology, neuropsychiatry and reproductive psychiatry.
