I completed my Bachelor of Science at McMaster University. I travelled to Saint Maarten where I completed 2 years of medical school. My final 2 years were completed in various hospitals in and around New York City. I completed my psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/Bronx Lebanon Hospital. In my last year of residency I was the chief resident and acted as a junior attending. I completed my forensic fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Throughout my years in New York, I worked primarily with low socioeconomic status patient populations. I participated in quality improvement, various task forces, and ACGME accreditation panels for the hospital. During this time I also attended various conferences, engaged in panel and poster presentations and contributed to a book titled “The Neuroscience of Schizophrenia.” My research interests including violence risk assessment and confinement in correctional settings.
